Show synopsis

"Of the creatures in the rocket cylinder at Grovers Mill, I can give you no authoritative information - either as to their nature, their origin, or their purposes here on Earth..."

From Otherworld Media (Director David Ossman and Producer Judith Walcutt) comes THE WAR OF THE WORLDS: 50TH ANNIVERSARY PRODUCTION, originally broadcast on NPR stations on October 30, 1988, fifty years to the day from the original sensational Mercury Theatre broadcast directed by Orson Welles and written by Howard Koch.

The newly updated production of the notorious science fiction thriller stars Jason Robards as Professor Pierson, and features Steve Allen, Hector Elizondo, Rene Auberjonois, Philip Proctor, and real-life radio personalities Douglas Edwards, Scott Simon, and Terry Gross. The production was recorded mostly on location at George Lucas' Skywalker Ranch in California, with sound design by Academy Award winner Randy Thom.
